Online marketing for job searches

Just posted on my Resume Rehab blog about a woman who is looking for a job using a t-shirt with her resume printed on it. Too bad when I tried to look for her online to find out more, she didn't have a web site, online resume, Linked In, blog, Facebook page... nothing. Given the fact that the Internet has taken over the world of marketing (and most of the world, in general) is it possible for a successful marketer to have a virtually non-existent web presence? Doesn't seem like a very effective personal marketing plan to me.

Guns N’ Sodas

No one craves caffeinated beverages like Guns N' Roses fans. That's why when Dr. Pepper teamed up with Guns N' Roses to offer a free Dr. Pepper soft drink for every American fan in honor of the release of the first GN'R album in 17 years. In the first 24 hours after the release of Chinese Democracy, fans inundated the Dr. Pepper web site. Then the Dr. Pepper site crashed and fans got ticked off. Not only did they get mad at Dr. Pepper for the site crash, they got mad at GN'R. Talk about a sales promotion gone wrong.

Would you rather…?

Analyzing priorities in a digital world I spent the holiday weekend at a friend's lake house. One day while we sat on the dock, his father asked me if I'd rather go without the Internet or my cell phone? To me, this made no sense - considering I can access the Internet from my phone AND make calls online. Add that to the fact that I own a laptop and have a wireless air card for Internet access...I realized that I am fortunate to have so many ways to communicate that I do not have to chose between technologies! The Beneath the Brand blog recently posted an OTX survey of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17, asking them which scenario they would prefer. The findings indicate that today's adolescents have a completely different perspective on communication, social relationships and technology.
